Pupils and staff at our school supported the annual Poppy Appeal thanks to one of our talented parents.

We were able to enjoy delicious poppy cupcakes which were baked by parent Cathy Martin, Cat’s Cakes, to mark Remembrance Day, when they were sold for donations to raise money for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

Our pupils also coloured-in poppy template pictures which were displayed in our windows to show support for Remembrance Day as we were unable to attend services due to the current pandemic.

Some of the poppies were also taken home so pupils could put them in their own windows.

We were able to take part in commemorations remotely when we joined a Zoom service from the Rev David Candlin, of St Martin of Tours Church Epsom and we also took part in the two minutes silence.

Our school has also been supporting the initiative by the Woodland Trust to walk in Langley Vale Wood during the remembrance month of November. The Trust is aiming to transform the existing arable land into a living memorial to those who sacrificed so much in the First World War.

More information about the wood can be found here
